If you live in Dewsbury or Batley and want a proper home-style meal that is also good for you, the choices are thin. Most ready meals are heavy on white rice, cream, salt and sugar, and the takeaway alternative is rarely lighter. Nourish with Memuna is exploring a different kind of ready meal: freshly cooked, full of flavour, and built around wholegrain and balanced portions.
Status: we are not selling meals yet. We are asking Dewsbury and Batley what they would actually want, and what they would pay, before we cook a single box. The survey takes about a minute.
What we are thinking of making
- Indian: lighter curries, dals and tandoori style chicken with brown basmati rice or roti options.
- Arab: grilled meats, rice dishes and mezze style sides with less oil.
- Turkish: kebabs, lentil soups, stuffed vegetables and salads.
- English: roast dinners, pies and pasta bakes reworked with less butter and cream.
Options for different diets
- Brown rice and brown pasta as the default, not an extra. See brown rice and brown pasta meals.
- Gluten free and dairy free choices, with allergens clearly listed.
- Portions for one person or for the whole family. See family meals and weekly plans.
Who this is for
Busy parents, people watching their weight or blood sugar, anyone cutting back on gluten or dairy, and people who simply want to stop ordering takeaway three nights a week. We are starting in Dewsbury (WF12, WF13) and Batley (WF17) and the areas around them.
Questions people ask
Can I buy healthy ready meals in Dewsbury or Batley from Nourish with Memuna now?
Not yet. We are surveying local people first to find out which meals, diets and prices matter most. If you take the short survey you can leave a contact to hear when we launch.
What kinds of food are planned?
Indian, Arab, Turkish and English dishes, cooked with healthier methods, with brown rice and brown pasta as standard and gluten free and dairy free options.
Will the meals be halal?
That is one of the questions in the survey. Tell us if halal is a must for you and we will take it into account.
How much will it cost?
We have not set prices. The survey asks what you would happily pay per portion and per week, so the price reflects what local families can afford.
